An emphasis was placed on maintaining complementary between Eng’ai and humans.They seemed to have no concept of evil spirits but did believe that people, Masai and non-Masai, were capable of evil actions, including using charms and curses to bring misfortune, sickness, or even death on other people. This charm would have been worn on the neck of a goat in a herd owned by a member of the tribe.
