    Description

    FROM MADEIRA WITH LOVE...
    Recent estate find...... Antique brass doorbell, servants call.
    The electrical component, as well as the weighty cast brass bell, is secured to a wooden plaque.
    The mechanism is covered with a removable box.
    Exactly what is shown is what was found in the storage room of a stately Portuguese home.
    I am not savvy enough to test, however, it appears to be intact.
    The small metal hanging loop is stamped "France".  No other markings to identify the maker or origins.
    The wood plaque measures 8 1/2 inches (21.5cm) by 4 1/2 inches (11.5cm).
    It would protrude from the wall 4 1/2 inches (11.5cm).
    I have inserted a standard size playing card in one photo as a reference for size.
    It does not appear to have been tampered with.  Sometime in the past, some sticky felt pads had been glued to the back for some reason.
