Antique handmade unisex silver metal snake bracelet from Ethiopia JE015

Description

Early 20th century double headed snake bracelet from Southern Ethiopia. The bracelet is lightweight and hand made from aluminium, which was once considered a very precious material. It has a minimalist, almost industrial aesthetic that doesn't appear very often in African antiques.
These snake bracelets were originally stamped with a decorative pattern but this one has been worn almost completely smooth through many decades of use. It is in very good condition given its age and origin. The bangles are unisex and look wonderful worn stacked. The metal is rigid and cannot be opened. The snake bracelets are increasingly difficult to source and each piece is unique.
