    Description

This exquisite collection of 12 "
    Beauties of the Red Mansion
" porcelain plates depict the beautiful heroines of China's greatest romantic novel, "A Dream of Red Mansions." This classic Chinese novel was written largely by Tsao Hsueh-chin sometime between 1755 and 1790, and is "a revealing and damningly accurate insider's contemporary portrait of excess privilege, power, and corruption among China's feudal ruling classes."
Each porcelain plate portrays a scene brilliantly depicted by Master Artisan Zhao Huimin. The exquisitely delicate refinements of technique and subtle style which characterize classical Chinese art are prominent in Zhao's sensitive and insightful portraits.
These limited edition plates unite China's greatest literary masterpiece with the world's oldest center for fine porcelain making. Each plate was meticulously crafted by the skilled men and women of Imperial Jingdezhen, with guidance from China National Arts and Crafts, between 1985 and 1989 in the People's Republic of China.
Realization of each plate was limited to 115 firing days in compliance with established artistic standards, and thus certified for export without restriction. Each plate measures 8.5" in diameter and includes precious metal pigments. Plates are artistic only, and not for food. (with credit to
