    Description

    Rare Large Antique Victorian Cast Iron and Brass "Wolverine" Lawn Sprinkler. Manufactured by Crescent Brass and Iron Works of Detroit, Michigan in the 1890's. It is marked on the base "CRESCENT PAT'D APRIL 8, 91." It does have a few flaws - to be expected of an item that is 130-ish years old, which are listed below. One of the ornate cast iron legs has been repaired, as shown in photo. The repair to the leg does not show when it is attached to the base. There are some handling marks/dings to the rotating brass arms as shown, and one arm appears to have been straightened out at some point in its life with some kind of tool leaving marks on the arm, also shown. Screws and nuts that attach the legs are modern replacements, the originals were corroded and no longer suitable for use. The finish on the base and legs appears to be the original black "japanned" finish, except for the hidden portion of the one leg that has the repair. I have put a new rubber o-ring in the spinner head, and a new rubber washer in the hose attachment as the originals were dried out and rock hard. It seems to work just fine, and uses a standard garden hose. It is approximately 14" tall, and approximately 14" wide and weighs around 3 lbs. when fully assembled. This is a very rare ornate Victorian era sprinkler, put in your best bid now instead of the last minute because once it's gone - it's gone.
