    Description

Very beautiful and rare vintage Pure Irish Linen Thread. I’m quite sure that these are real vintage threads, possibly from the 60-80s, from the way that the thread is woven. Modern threads are not so smoothly and evenly spun. The threads are very soft with a great drape, not stiff at all. Never used in original wrapping.
The thread size is marked 40/2 however I would say it’s quite fine for this size, more like a size 60-50/2, just a tiny bit thicker than a regular common polycotton machine sewing thread (see last photo for a comparison). The color is an ivory or cream, or what the Irish would call “Whitey Brown.” It’s an ivory with a “brownish” cast. This color means the flax is naturally bleached not fully bleached to a real white color. See photo for a color comparison with my white Fresia Belgian Linen thread.
Each spool I would estimate to be 1250 meters. They are not marked meters however the spools dimensions (2” diameter and 4” tall) are the same size as my vintage Belgian linen thread spool 80/2 and that one of mine is marked 2500 meters so that’s how I got this number.
I am selling 8 of these for now
These are rare so price is not negotiable and bottom low.
